The high cost of adding teaching kitchens to schools is probably going to give the government and excuse to do nothing about our petition. So we have a new idea.
In the 1970s and 80s school kitchens were changed to computer rooms meaning that only 25% of primary schools now have a teaching kitchen.
All is not lost! For the double whammy effect how about making the 'cooking' part optional, but at home with parents. Parents will learn as well!!
In the current digital age we should encourage children to find recipe videos, like the one attached, on what to do with the veg they take home from the school veg patch.
This removes the cost of building teaching kitchens and makes the changes to the curriculum well within government funding. Especially when half our schools already have a veg patch and Sugar Tax, already earmarked for wellbeing in schools, can pay for other schools to build and maintain a veg patch. Feedback welcome....
