We are here to petition MNDOT and Dakota County Transportation Dept to see Diffley as a priority for the safety of pedestrians and cyclists. The area is between Hwy 3 and Lexington on Diffley. There should be a marked crosswalk at Daniel Drive and Diffley complete with lighted signage and a reduced speed limit through the school zone.
      The public crosses Diffley in front of Cub Foods to the fields during the summer for games as well. This is not just a school time issue.
      Currently the speed limit is 45 running right past Northview Elementary.  Also, there is a lack of oversight in patrolling at Braddock and Diffley when school is in session and students/parents are trying to get to and from the schools in the area. It is not enough to have police there when there is enough outrage and the city/county feels they need to do something to appease the public for a short while. 
       We are only asking what other cities have, like Inver Grove Heights going by Simley. IGH police are out in force AND ticketing on 80th at any given time, not just during a certain time when the public knows when to behave while driving. We need that kind of response here.
The time is now, not a year from now, not two years from now, NOW.
