The Issue

Since the 7th October, Israel has killed over 40,000 Palestinians and destroyed every single university in Gaza. These crimes are committed using funding and technology from the UK, the US, and their allies. In addition to these governments, private companies are complicit by providing services and technology to the military and state which is used to enact these atrocities.

Imperial College, like other universities in the UK and worldwide, is complicit in Israel's occupation of the Palestinian land and people. This occupation and systemic apartheid has culminated in what has now been described by the UN as a plausible genocide.

The following list constitutes the demands made to management:

  1. Imperial should cut industry and research ties with companies such as Caterpillar Inc. and BAE Systems, which are complicit in the war crimes against Palestine.
  2. Imperial should disclose all investments and divest from companies which support the occupation of Palestine.
  3. Explicit condemnation of Israel's actions and of students and staff who express support for such atrocities.
  4. Imperial should provide support to Palestinian students through scholarships, establishing links with Palestinian universities, and supporting the rebuilding of the Gazan higher education sector. Every single university in Gaza has been destroyed by Israel.
  5. The establishment of an independent student and staff body to ensure compliance with demands (1) and (2), as well as serve to provide oversight on future investments to ensure that Imperial is not complicit in future crimes. This body may also pave the way to a more democratic student and staff driven investment policy.

The college's current position of complicity and implicit support creates a deeply unsafe environment for many students and it is our collective duty to ensure that this is addressed.

We, as the student body, will not stop agitating and calling for an end to the support of the Zionist entity until our demands are met.

Free Palestine.
