CUT THE CREATURE CRUELTY
Animal testing involves using animals instead of humans to test different chemicals to see how they would react with living organisms. During these experiments, animals go through a lot of pain and suffering for our benefit, they usually end up horribly disfigured or dead after the experimentation.
When testing for a disease cure there is a process called the Drug Development. With experimentation, it starts with Pre Clinical Trials, that test the drugs on human cells and tissues. Once the drug responds well and doesn’t harm the cells, they move onto animal testing. Once the animal testing is successful, they move onto Clinical Trials which include healthy volunteers and blind trails. We only move onto human testing once we are sure that the drug is safe. Does this mean humans are considered more superior than animals? And why do not all countries respect animal rights?
Animal Testing in cosmetics is widely known about and probably the most socially accepted. Animal Testing in cosmetics started in 1938 and was later banned in 1999 in the UK. This was a huge step in protecting animals and stopping animal testing; however, it didn’t stop it internationally. Many brands still use animals to experiment their products on and check for any side effects. Countries like France and the USA are the main manufacturers for cosmetics, where animal testing is still legal. As many citizens wish to stop animal cruelty, PETA was made to protect animals from any experimentation and abuse in the corporate world.
We think that testing on animals should not happen in any circumstances and we are trying to raise awareness through campaigns. Our main aim is to show that even though animal testing is banned in the UK, it is not in other countries. By signing our petition, you will help in getting this issue more widespread.
