We are proud to announce the launch of a new campaign! It will be called the "Race to End the Stigma", and the core of this campaign is to educate the public about mental illness and dispel some of the myths surrounding the topic. By helping start the conversation, we hope to bring to light how common mental illness is in our communities. The first step, though, is to educate ourselves by meeting with mental health professionals to get a better understanding of the stigma that those who are affected deal with on a daily basis.
We will partner up with organizations that work in the field of mental health and support what they do in their communities through fundraising and outreach programs like school speakers. We also plan on supporting the CIT (Crisis Intervention Training) programs that exist throughout California which train peace officers how to recognize symptoms of mental illness and apply that knowledge to their duties in public safety.
We want to make it clear that the addition of the "Race to End the Stigma" campaign will not take away from the work being done in both the "Race for Autism" and "Race 2B Drug-Free" campaigns. With your continued support, all three campaigns will do great work in communities and expand just as the first two have for years.
All of us at CVF are proud to be able to raise money and awareness for families affected by autism, keeping kids off the streets and drug-free and now the mental health community. None of what we have done and all that we will do in the future is possible without the support of our sponsors, our supporters, the volunteers and all of you who attend and participate at our fundraising events.
Thank you.
