A quick update on the outcome of the MDDC Cabinet Meeting on Thursday. They have no intention of maintaining Tufty or Headweir. They have however; in response to all our efforts with petitions, play protests, press releases and letters agreed to defer their decision until 31st Jan. MDDC have given Cullompton Town Council the opportunity to lease the parks as opposed to being put into managed decline. This is very positive and having spoken to the Town Clerk yesterday, I believe this is their intention. They have until the end of Jan to confirm. Leasing the parks locally gives them long term security and more power locally with regard to what's in them. As a community we have a huge opportunity here to help improve both Tufty and Headweir. I am waiting to hear from the Clerk with regard to a community working party to share ideas. Anyone who is up for this, please email the Save Tufty and Headweir FB Page.
