My name is Laurenția Mihaela Ștefănescu, Romanian citizen, living in India since 10 years along with my husband.

We live in Surat, address 174/ Avadh Shangrila,  Surat, Gujarat 394317. 

We live in our own bungalow.

We are part of animal rescue team, collaborating with few local NGO which are saving animals. In our area, Baleshwar-Palsana, Gujarat, we save and treat local animals, many times taking the needed ones in our own house till the time they find a house to adopt them. At this time in our home we have 16 dogs, out of which 8 are our personal dogs and 8 street dogs collected from our society. The society is surrounded by agricultural fields. It's a society of more than 500 bungalows, many of them still empty or used as weekend gatherings. 

From outside are coming street dogs, cats, monkeys and lot of birds.

Some of our society members ( permanent residents or not) are very disturbed by these things. They put poison, so most of the dogs and cats died, they threw acid on small babies. 

They ask security to take out all these animals and many times the members also took out these animals by hitting them till death.

I took in my garden 8 of the puppies saved from these people. I also have my own dogs, so in total I rescue and care for 16 dogs at present.

I took along with our veterinary doctor more than 30 dogs, many cats, sick birds  to a foundation and till date we offer food and medical treatment for them. 

We try our best to take care of this voiceless animals without disturbing too much the life of our society. 

Few members of society are harassing us and poisoning our animals many times. 

On the date of 28 November 2022 few members of society gathered at our home late night at 10 pm and started shouting and abusing us. 2 of them pushed me and slapped me while others assaulted my husband. Next day they called my husband and said they want to find a peaceful solution. But inspite of their words, they continued their harrasment.

These people stated that we can't do any complaint against them as they are very well connected politically and they have big links in police, and if they want, they will take us to jail and in our absence will kill our animals. 

This is not the first time they do this type of harrasment, they did the same thing even after almost 10 days after my only son died due to cancer, in March 2020. At that time my health was totaly ruined after staying in hospitals for months with my son who was being in and out of hospitals and finnally being in coma. My husband health was also very bad as he is a diabetic and heart patient. So at that time, due to our depression and poor health, we didn't do anything to protect ourselves. 

At this time, as the things never improved and many animals in society were killed by these people, we need to find a way to live safely in our home. 

We filed police complain, stil no action was taken until today and these people now are harrassing us day and night. 

They started collecting signatures from the society to throw my pets out and for days they went from house to house convincing people to sign. The animosity of society against any animal is highly increased now, not only against my pets. 

I desperately need your help as these people made dead threats also staying that they have power to put us in jail and to remove our pets. 

Please, I desperately need your help, as nothing is improving after police complain.
