On Thursday 10th March 2022, almost 11 weeks after the fatal collision, we laid our beautiful Lillie to rest.
It was traumatic, emotional yet beautiful.

On the Wednesday evening, close friends and family sat up with Lillie all night… spending as much time with her as possible.
There was lots of tea and chatting… it’s not morbid, in fact, in our family it’s part of the process of letting our loved ones go… not that it is any easier!

During the eve of Lillie’s special day we dressed the streets with pink bows, pictures, banners (with Lillie’s beautiful photos) and even draped pink satin around the local roundabout and created swags to make everything pink… local businesses allowed us to use their signs for our banners… Lillie’s face was everywhere!

There were 4 white horses and each wearing a pink feather and the carriage was also white.

We walked behind Lillie for approximately 1 mile. The police closed the road and as we walked, all you could hear was the horse’s hooves and people crying. It was a very sad day.
It was estimated around 300 people attend and well over 100 actually followed Lil. Strangers lined the streets and were visibly moved by what they saw.
The flower tributes were amazing… Lil had so many we need a scaffolding lorry to transport them all…

There were so many people that helped us make sure Lillie’s day was perfect and we could not have done it without their help… we thank them all from the bottom of our hearts!
The church service was perfect, very fitting for a young lady of 22 with so much to live for.

Michael, Lillie’s brother stood up and spoke about his sister, it was very moving. He was amazing and Lil would have been incredibly proud.
After the service we had a private gathering to celebrate Lillie’s life… it was amazing, you could feel the love for Lillie. A good friend had put together a visual made up of 22 years of photos and videos. It was brilliant…

Thank you all for your love and support so far. This is just the beginning for us - this is where the fight for justice really starts.
It’s unbelievable really that a family has to fight for what is right… especially when a child has been killed!

We started the petition earlier than intended… the process had been so awful and of course, the driver had not been arrested and driving around so, I created it in temper really. What else did we have?
Knowing we have so much support is truly touching… thank you.

Incidentally, the driver still hasn’t been arrested!

I have received an email from our local MP and disappointingly, Parliament have rejected our request for this to be heard in the House of Commons. That’s okay, we will keep going… nothing will stop us now… this fight is all we have left!

I will continue to update you… thank you for signing, sharing and donating (if you did - we didn’t know you’d be asked to donate!)

I have read so many messages where other families have been affected… it’s so sad and must stop!

Look after one another… life is precious and can change in a heartbeat xx
