I was a member of The Ship church, formerly Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, for years. I served as a musician in the ministry. I heard echoes and rumors of misconduct and misappropriation of funds by Pastor Terry Elliot throughout the years. Once a prominent ministry in the community of San Bernardino, Ca Mt. Zion (The Ship) was financially bled to death by its leader Pastor Terry Elliot. Many of the congregations members have fell victim to his deception and unscrupulous practices. Just a minimal amount of research on Terrance Owens Elliot reveals a treacherous history of theft and financial fraud stretching over the last four decades. Leveraging the position of pastor and infiltrating local government through exploiting relationship's with former D.A’s, Chief of Police and even the Mayor, Terry Elliot has evaded consequences and justice for his blatant abuse of so many unsuspecting members of the community. In late December 2022 he billed my credit card through the church square upwards of $2,000 for four consecutive days, claiming to help me retain a lawyer for a legal matter. No such attorney ever came to my defense and Terry Elliot had $8,084 of my money in his pocket. When I approached him about the charges he lied and told me the charges were reversed. After many correspondence with Navy Federal Credit Union’s  fraud department they eventually recommended that I seek remedy through litigation, which has been ongoing for nearly a year now. With irrefutable evidence in my favor from Navy Federal, the matter should be resolved on Oct. 16, 2024. However, many before me have went through this process and were awarded judgements that were never paid. A former member, Tina Satterwhite, lost her home and over $100,000 to Terrance Owen Elliot’s deceitful practices. Even with a $75,000 judgement in her favor she has not been maid whole. As Terry Elliot’s slogan said in his 2022 campaign for City Councilmen in San Bernardino’s 2nd Ward, “ Enough is Enough”! Even with a detailed article outlining Satterwhite’s ordeal and other relevant financial crimes in the San Bernardino Sun newspaper, the District Attorney of San Bernardino has failed the community and not pursued criminal charges against this so called Pastor. Many of us in the community have had our elderly loved ones, friends and family or have personally been victimized by Elliot’s greed and complete disregard for the financial wellbeing of anyone but himself.
