Credit the Until Dawn Game Creators

The Issue

Until Dawn is an iconic game (and has a Guinness book of world record).

It's so iconic that Sony have added its characters to their own Marvel-esque intro alongside Kratos and Joel.

Despite the immense dedication, creativity, and innovation given to Sony, the creators were not honoured by name in the movie.

When authors book is made in to a movie, they aren't concealed by the publisher.

When TV writers have their show made in to a movie, they aren't concealed by their production house.

The rules around game IP are dated and with transmedia being more popular than ever, the rules need updated - starting with the credit owed to Will, Graham and Larry.

It simply said it was based on a Sony game.

This issue is not exclusive to any single company, but rather pervades the entire gaming industry. It’s a discrepancy that diminishes the crucial role of creators in the expansive narratives games continue to inspire across different media platforms. The union is powerless to effect change until there is a transformation in how credit is allocated.

I am calling upon Sony, a leader in the gaming world, to set a precedent for change by revising the Until Dawn credits.

In addition , I am asking for them to revise their approach to IP crediting, particularly in transmedia adaptations. Providing an executive producer credit or acknowledgment equivalent would honor those creators whose visions and passion have given birth to these incredible stories and design, proving transformational in the entertainment landscape.

Let's advocate not only for the Until Dawn creators but for the integrity of the industry. By ensuring that creative voices are properly recognized, we can continue to inspire future generations of creators who dare to dream beyond current constraints. Sign this petition to urge Sony...and stand with all game creators...demanding well-deserved recognition in transmedia narratives.
