Petition update“Create an Independent System to Hold GP Staff Accountable”Awaiting Response From Health Minister Please Help Share This Petiton

I wanted to share something important. My MSP, Claire, has contacted me again to say she is still waiting for a response from the Health Secretary. Knowing that she is actively following this up means a lot, and it shows that these issues are finally being seen at a higher level — something I’ve been hoping for from the very beginning.

I’m also now receiving assistance to register with a new GP practice. After everything I’ve been through, this support has taken some pressure off me. I’m truly hoping that this time I will be met with an understanding GP and a kinder, more respectful reception team. The anxiety that builds up around even making a call has been overwhelming, and all I want is to be treated like a human being who deserves compassion.

I’ve never experienced rudeness like I have from GP reception staff. Nowhere else in my life — not in shops, not in services, not anywhere — have I been spoken to the way I have been spoken to at GP surgeries. It leaves a lasting impact, and it’s exactly why so many patients feel scared or sick with nerves just trying to access basic healthcare.

That’s why this petition means so much to me. It’s about creating real change so patients aren’t left feeling intimidated, dismissed, or afraid when they reach out for help.

I also want to gently ask for your support:

I’m not on social media and I don’t have a big network to share this petition for me, so every person who shares it or encourages someone else to sign makes a huge difference. Your support is the only way this message spreads.

Thank you to everyone who has signed, shared, and stood with me. You’re helping push for a kinder, safer, and more respectful healthcare experience for all of us.
