Create an independent body to investigate complaints against NHS staff and bodies
The Issue
On 9th August 2023 Balram, My son, died before his time suffering from a huge amount of pain and discomfort due to an unbelievable lack of duty of care and treatment he was given by the hospital and staff who’s care he was under.
The coroner is investigating Balram’s Death.
The Police were investigating Balram’s Death.
The Parliamentary Health Service Ombudsmen is investigating Balram’s Death..
CQC is investigating Guys and St Thomas Trust (GSTT).
CQC is investigating the Person on Interest, The Chief Executive of the NHS Trust.
The GMC is investigating the last Consultant "caring" for Balram before his death.
The GMC is investigating the Chief Executive of the NHS Trust.
A CHANGE is needed NOW not INVESTIGATIONS
At the conclusion of the Pre Inquest Coroners Hearing that took place on 25th July 2024 the Coroner wrote :
Suggested Key Issues
The agenda set out the key issues from the court’s perspective which, at this stage, were set out reasonably wide.
Mr Patel submitted that the correct way of understanding the issues was to understand the truth – only then could anyone understand what happened and what the issues were. He did not agree with the issues as set out by the court. From his perspective (and in summary) it was putting the cart before the horse.
IS THE TRUTH TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR.
MY SONS LIFE WAS TAKEN ALMOST A YEAR AGO I AM STILL FIGHTING FOR THE TRUTH
Hospitals & hospital staff have for far too long hid behind a curtain of protection of the NHS when they have made mistakes /not acted in accordance with their code of conduct / care. That needs to end. They need to be accountable for their actions. PALS / the current complaints system, does not work.
The hospitals are taking steps “after the event”, so as to speak, to see what went wrong with patient care and / or patient treatment. However, there are totally inadequate steps currently available to rectify the lack of patient care, failure in patient treatment and unacceptable attitude when these failures are actually taking place. If there were, they could ensure little or no harm comes to the patient. Simple steps, a swift fairly straight forward second opinion on treatment is one.
A totally independent body must govern this.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate the NHS but things need to desperately change. Balram, our baby, was here 30 years because of them and tragically died before his time in a inhumane way because of them.
To the powers that be individually I am a nothing. TOGETHER WE ARE A SOMETHING.
We have lost our Balram, no one else should suffer this way and no one else should die this way.
To find our more feel free to look at any of the 6 TV Broadcasts or 6 online newspaper articles published or 3 newspaper articles written ( all in ths space of about 5 weeks).
