Create an exclusive security line for DIA employees

Create an exclusive security line for DIA employees
The Issue
At Denver International Airport (DIA), employees face immense challenges with their daily commutes due to recent logistic changes. Our parking lot has been relocated even farther from the main terminal, complicating our access to our workplaces. Adding to this, the brief period we had an exclusive employee security line, which significantly eased our access, has been removed. This has added more time to our overall commute, affecting both domestic and international staff operations.
DIA employs approximately 40,000 workers, all integral to the smooth functioning of airport services and operations. However, the current operational inefficiencies have posed significant retention issues for employers. On a daily basis, employees run late to work or have to leave our homes even earlier and may still face excessive waits for overcrowded shuttles and security lines, primarily because the cumbersome commute. Additionally this discourages potential employees from wanting to work for any employer at DIA. The lack of reliable RTD operations, compounded with distant parking locations and unnecessarily extended security lines, severely impacts employee morale and productivity. Things made even more confusing and confrontational when we are met by inconsistent TSA and DEN operations protocols sometimes allowing us in the pre-check line and sometimes not, as well as sometimes allowing us to skip the line and other times being chastised by a different TSA agent and being told to go back to the end of the line.
We propose the establishment of a dedicated security line exclusively for orange-badged employees. Employees have already undergone stringent background checks, rendering lengthy security procedures redundant and inefficient for them. This exclusive line would not only streamline the access but also bolster employee satisfaction, ultimately enhancing productivity and efficiency in airport operations.
We call upon airport authorities and city officials to recognize this pressing issue and take actionable steps towards reinstating a dedicated employee security line. By signing this petition, you stand with the DIA workforce in advocating for essential changes to improve their daily work experience and uphold the operational excellence of one of the nation's busiest airports. Sign today to support a vital change that ensures better working conditions for the 40,000 workers who keep our airport running smoothly.
