My best friend is deaf, and I can’t communicate with her in American Sign Language because she learned a different one. It’s not fair that Deaf people have to learn multiple sign languages just to communicate with others around the world. There are over 300 different sign languages globally, which creates barriers and limits opportunities for the Deaf community.

A universal sign language would promote inclusivity, ease communication, and provide equal opportunities for education and employment. It’s time we take action to unify our efforts in supporting the Deaf community by creating a standardized form of communication.
