Create a support system for dog attack victims

Create a support system for dog attack victims
The Issue
April 12th our worlds changed forever, our reality took a darker turn when my son became the victim of a dog attack. Since that horrifying day, we've been on a rollercoaster of emotions desperately seeking the support and assistance he so desperately needs. He struggles with confidence at times, nightmares, his scars, seeing dogs again, flashbacks.
Unfortunately, despite our relentless pursuit, we've come to realise that the current system has significant gaps. There appears to be a severe lack of independent support services for victims of dog attacks, leaving many families, like ours, without the resources or guidance necessary to recover. Recently he was denied trauma support because he is 4 and not 5. Since that day he has talked about it almost daily, still fearful of dogs. All i would like is a support service where the individual or families have a chance to express whether thats through roleplay or art therapy.
Statistics reveal that dog attacks are more common than many might think. According to a report by the National Health Service, thousands seek medical attention every year due to dog-related incidents. Yet, there's no structured, independent support network for those affected. Victims must often navigate a complex maze of medical, and emotional challenges without a dedicated support system, all dependant on if you fit the mould.
Our vision is clear: we need a change. We propose the establishment of a nationwide, independent support system specifically for victims of dog attacks. This organization would offer a centralized hub of resources and guidance, assisting families in dealing with medical care, legal proceedings, and emotional recovery. Such a system would ensure no one falls through the cracks, and that every victim receives the help they need to rebuild their lives.
By creating this network, we can ensure that those who have suffered do not have to fight alone. Let's make sure that in the face of such traumatic events, everyone has a place to turn to, a place where they are understood, supported, and guided towards recovery.
Join us in this crucial initiative to provide a lifeline to dog attack victims. Sign the petition and help us create a support system that can make a real difference in the lives of many.
