Create a Pathway to Citizenship for DREAMers and Asylum Seekers

Create a Pathway to Citizenship for DREAMers and Asylum Seekers
The Issue
As an American citizen with close friends and family who immigrated from Mexico and have since become legal residents or citizens, I’ve seen firsthand the incredible contributions immigrants make to this country. Their resilience, hard work, and diversity are part of what makes the United States strong. Yet, our immigration system continues to fall short—failing to reflect our values or support those who contribute so much to our communities.
Programs like DACA and the DREAM Act were steps in the right direction, but they never offered a permanent solution. In 2012, DACA provided work permits to undocumented youth—but not citizenship. And since 2021, new DACA applications have been halted, leaving countless young people in limbo.
It’s time for real reform.
Specifically, we propose:
A pathway to permanent residency and eventual citizenship, not just work permits.
Updated eligibility for DREAMers that includes:
Adults who arrived in the U.S. at least 10 consecutive years ago
Individuals with no prior criminal convictions
Those who are working, pursuing higher education, or have recently graduated
Individuals who have filed taxes and contributed positively to society
We also demand:
Prioritization of family unity as a guiding principle in immigration policy.
A compassionate and efficient asylum process that treats people fleeing violence and persecution with dignity—not suspicion.
DREAMers—brought to the U.S. as children—have grown up here, gone to our schools, and enriched our communities. They deserve security and recognition, not uncertainty. Families should not be torn apart by outdated policies, and people fleeing danger should not be treated as criminals at our borders.
Our laws must reflect who we are: a nation of opportunity, fairness, and humanity.
We have the power, as voters and citizens, to demand change. Let’s push for an immigration system that respects human dignity, keeps families together, and offers a future to those who call this country home.
Join me—sign this petition and urge lawmakers to act on immigration reform now
