Create a gaming society at Hindu College
The Issue
It's a thrilling time to be a student at Hindu College, where diverse interests find a platform to flourish, whether it be through drama, singing, dance, or film. Yet, there's one vibrant community yearning for recognition — the gamers. Gaming is more than a pastime. For many of us, it's a vibrant form of expression, a powerful tool for social connection, and a significant cultural phenomenon.
During my time at Hindu College, I have witnessed firsthand how gaming can unite people across different streams and backgrounds. It's a medium through which friendships are born, leadership skills are honed, and creativity is unleashed. Surprisingly, despite the growing number of students interested in this contemporary art form, we lack a formal space to celebrate it: a gaming society.
Creating a gaming society would not only validate gaming as a legitimate form of leisure and learning but also provide a constructive outlet for students to share, compete, and collaborate on gaming projects. Such a society can host workshops to help members develop essential skills like coding and game design, organize inter-college gaming tournaments to foster teamwork and competitive spirit, and even collaborate with tech startups to introduce students to potential career paths in the gaming industry.
The world of gaming is fast-paced and constantly evolving, much like the academic journey we are on. By establishing a gaming society, Hindu College can embrace this evolution, ensuring its students are not just academically proficient but also culturally enriched.
Gaming is a part of our modern world — a world we are preparing to enter and shape. Don’t let us miss out on this opportunity to enrich our college experience. Sign this petition if you believe that Hindu College should reflect its students' interests by establishing a dedicated gaming society!
