FREE Clothing Pop Up Shop for Local Teenz!

FREE Clothing Pop Up Shop for Local Teenz!
The Issue
Hi, I’m Marissa! I run an instagram page, @gram_medownz where I collect secondhand clothing donations from community members and create events where local teens can shop FREELY. The gram-MeDownz mission is to empower our youth to express themselves through style by offering sustainable (secondhand ) and affordable (free) clothing options. In the past I’ve held Free Prom Shops & Free Jeanz4Teenz events in Whittier all the secondhand donations for these events came from fellow community members and even multiple high school sports teams that ran clothing drives to give back!!
I believe gram-MeDownz Free shopping events are so beneficial to our community for multiple reasons.
1.The clothing drives offer another option for community members to elongate the life of clothing they no longer wear.
2. The denim drives that local volleyball programs have hosted are a means for young teams to band together to give back to their community showing them that they can in fact impact others!
3. It’s so exciting to see when these high schoolers find items they love at these Free shopping events. Not only is it great for them to be exposed to the awesomeness of shopping secondhand and eliminating waste but they now have another tool to represent who they are with the world-that’s powerful!
I would love to hold Free Clothing Pop Ups in Whittier more consistently. Hosting four pop up shops each year (one per season) is the goal and I need your help! If you believe there’s a need for Free clothing to be offered to local teenz please sign this petition and share it with your friends! I’ll be utilizing the data from this petition while presenting to potential donors/sponsors in the future.
I’m confident once the community sees there is a need they will come through with support! We can change a lot when we move together!
Thanks for your time & consideration!
