Create a free and open skatepark for Lincolnton

The Issue

Growing up in Lincolnton, I've seen countless young skaters searching for a safe place to practice their skills. Skating is not just a sport for us; it’s a passion, a community, and a way to stay active. Yet, despite the growing number of skateboarders in our town, we lack a dedicated space where young enthusiasts can safely practice, learn, and connect with fellow skaters.

Skateboarding offers numerous benefits—it encourages physical fitness, fosters creativity, and teaches perseverance and discipline. However, without a designated skatepark, local skaters are often left to practice in unsafe or inappropriate locations, which can lead to accidents and discourage newcomers from joining.

Communities similar to Lincolnton, such as Gastonia and Hickory, have successfully built public skateparks that not only provide a secure environment for skaters but also boost local economy by attracting visitors and events. A free and open skatepark in Lincolnton could serve the same purpose, bringing together individuals of all ages and skill levels to share and learn from one another.

Implementing a skatepark could be achieved through community and governmental support, seeking grants from organizations dedicated to promoting active lifestyles and safely designed public spaces. Fundraisers and partnerships with local businesses could also contribute to the realization of this project.

By supporting this petition, you are helping to create a safer and more inclusive community for young skaters and ensuring that Lincolnton embraces a healthier lifestyle for its residents. Please sign this petition and help us encourage local authorities to consider the development of a free and open skatepark in Lincolnton. Together, we can make a positive impact in our community.
