Create a film about Dyscalculia struggles

Create a film about Dyscalculia struggles
The Issue
A film about a character struggling with Dyscalculia she has trouble with finding a job most of them in her area turn her down tell her "too apply online" she searches on indeed, zip recruiter, linkedin. She has trouble finding a job because most of them want a cashier worker whether it'd be the corner store, or retail. She has an intellectual (math) breakthrough in the end.
Dyscalculia is a learning disability that affects a person's ability to understand numbers and mathematical concepts. Despite its prevalence, it is often overlooked in media, leaving those who suffer from it without representation and understanding from the broader public. It's time to change that.
We are calling on film producers and directors to create a compelling film that explores the life of a female character navigating the professional world while struggling with Dyscalculia. In our story, she faces numerous challenges, particularly in the job market, where many positions require skills that are difficult for her due to her condition. She tirelessly searches for employment opportunities on platforms like Indeed, ZipRecruiter, and LinkedIn, only to face rejection because most roles demand mathematical proficiency that she struggles with, such as cashier positions.
According to a study by the National Center for Learning Disabilities, Dyscalculia affects approximately 5% to 7% of the population. However, awareness and understanding of this disability remain limited. By creating a film highlighting the daily challenges faced by those with Dyscalculia, we can foster empathy and awareness throughout society. Such representation can not only provide comfort and validation to those with Dyscalculia but can also educate employers on the value these individuals can bring to the workforce with the right support.
We propose that the film focuses on her journey, highlighting the obstacles she encounters in her search for a suitable career. It should also portray her determination to succeed, the innovative strategies she employs to overcome her challenges, and the strength she finds in communities and networks that support people with Dyscalculia.
By shining a light on her resilience and resourcefulness, the film can inspire those with Dyscalculia to pursue their dreams and educate society on the importance of accommodating and understanding learning disabilities in the professional realm.
Sign this petition to urge filmmakers to commit to this important project. Let's bring Dyscalculia to the big screen and create a more inclusive and understanding world.
