The Issue

Living in the Novi apartments next to the vacant lots near the Jordan Valley train station, the need for a community park is increasingly evident to me. As a resident without a car, taking my dog for a walk or finding a nearby place to spend quality time with my baby and friends is a challenge. These empty lots offer a unique opportunity to transform our neighborhood into a vibrant, community-oriented space.

Many of us residing in the surrounding apartments, and even those in nearby suburban homes, share this desire for a local park. It would not only serve as a safe environment for children to play and pets to be walked but also as a beautiful area for residents to come together, thereby fostering a stronger sense of community. Presently, the empty lots are nothing but barren space, lacking aesthetic appeal and utility.

In a thriving city like West Jordan, community parks play a critical role in promoting health, happiness, and social interactions among residents. Turning these lots into a park would substantially enhance the local environment, making it more visually appealing while providing a much-needed green space for relaxation and recreation. According to research by the National Recreation and Park Association, access to local parks increases property values by as much as 20%, highlighting the long-term economic benefits of developing these areas.

I kindly urge the local government and city planners to consider this proposal seriously, as it will serve the best interests of numerous families and individuals who will benefit greatly from such a development. By setting aside these lots for a park, we can create a sustainable and lasting positive impact on West Jordan's community life.

Sign this petition to support the creation of a community park next to the Jordan Valley train station, and let's transform our neighborhood for the better.
