Brenda's Attorney is asking the court for diversion which could lead to dismissal of her case. It appears the District Attorney’s office did not take this heinous animal cruelty case seriously and only charged Brenda with Misdemeanors therefore, there is nothing to bargain or plea with and Brenda is going to walk free to do it all over again. Under the guise of a rescue, hundreds of precious animals suffered and died without medical care and lived in deplorable conditions because of Brenda Angringa’s refusal to provide the basic, minimum requirements of care. This animal cruelty case is no different than abusing dogs or cats.
Brenda Andringa was charged by the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office on July 6, 2021 with six misdemeanors related to the death and neglect of rabbits at South Bay Rabbit Rescue. Specifically, she was charged with three counts of cruelty to animals and three counts of failing to give proper care and attention to an animal.
Failed promises by Deputy DA Rajagopalan: “Our intention is to hold the defendant accountable for the neglect, assist in rehabilitation where possible, and ensure that she cannot harm any other rabbits.”
We the petitioners oppose diversion, request the misdemeanors charges be upgraded to felonies and charge her to the full extent of the law forbidding Brenda from reopening another Nonprofit and charge her for defrauding the public with donations.
Please take a moment and email or call the following before March 15th and ask for support in Opposing Diversion.
