It is beyond Reprehensible that Brenda Andringa of South Bay Rabbit Rescue is not being held responsible for her crimes against animals.  According to the Santa Clara Co. court docket Brenda’s case is still listed as a misdemeanor and its rumored Brenda’s Attorney requested Diversion.

We the petitioners respectfully request Deputy DA Shanthi Rajagopalan, District Attorney Jeff Rosen and Judge Stephanie Riley honor the CA animal cruelty laws.  We request Deputy DA Shanthi Rajagopalan honor the statement given to the Morgan Hill Times and prosecute Brenda Andringa to the fullest extent of the law.
Upgrade misdemeanors charges to a felonies; forbid reopening another Nonprofit, forbid her from owning animals and charge her for defrauding the public for donations not used for the rabbits care.

Meet Blitzen, (petition photo) one of many horrifically neglected rabbits left to suffer and die by Brenda Andringa of SBRR.  Blitzen sat in a small filthy cage for 7 months with no Vet care, when found unable to move he was emancipated, dehydrated and both feet full of infected sore hocks, abscesses and bones were protruding the skin.  The pain, suffering and starvation were nothing less than excruciating. A volunteer took him in and provided extensive Vet care, including the removal of broken dead bones from his infected feet. Blitzen survived due to his loving owner; but will remain a specials needs (disabled) rabbit.

HarCules suffered a long cruel inhumane illness and death from being eaten alive by maggots after leaving the sick rabbit in its own filth.  According to volunteers testimony Brenda Andringa deliberately and knowingly caused the suffering and death of hundreds of rabbits in the most cruel and inhumane ways without guilt or feeling

Despicable photos show rabbits confined in small cages without food, water and Vet care, infected with maggots, respiratory infections, starving, torn off nose, rabbits dying from heat stroke, the list goes on (more photos to come).

Email correspondence gives reference to Brenda dropping off an unadoptable live rabbit to a Wildlife Center for food.  Witnesses allege Brenda regularly gave predator centers dead rabbits.
Brenda Andringa appears to be a deliberate predator, abuser and killer of pet rabbits; full justice is warranted to prevent her from abusing and killing more rabbits.

CA Law

A “wobbler” is a crime that can be punished as either a felony or a misdemeanor in California.1 In most cases, it is the prosecutor who decides whether to charge a wobbler as a felony or a misdemeanor.  But judges can also decide to punish a wobbler as a misdemeanor.

Penal Code 597 PC – California Animal Abuse & Animal Cruelty Laws

Penal Code 597 PC prohibits animal abuse – which is defined as maliciously killing, harming, maiming, or torturing a living animal. Animal abuse can be charged as either a misdemeanor or a felony and carries a sentence of up to 3 years in jail or prison.
