At the hearing on Thursday night, after 4 hours of other hearings, AM0008-21, was finally going to be presented, when the County asked to withdrawal. The amendment was to add asphalt plants to nonconforming gravel pits, with a conditional use permit.
The planning director, Milton Ollerton, admitted this amendment would change the rural character of Bonner County and admitted the zoning is not the best for an asphalt plant, and they should remain in industrial zones.
This is a big win for Bonner County, which has over 90 gravel pits, many are grandfathered, which would have been changed possibly if this would have been approved.
This group, Citizens Against Linscott Interstate, has continued to battle for the community to fight the asphalt plant in the Linscott pit, and will still battle in the future to maintain our lifestyle we have here in Sagle.
