Though well intentioned, the staggered cycle barriers installed on the busway bridge approach to Francis Crick Avenue on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus are far more likely to cause a serious injury than prevent one. They are of an outdated design which is incompatible with the Equality Act 2010 as it makes use of the cycleway more difficult for disabled people. They are very difficult to see at night and create a pinch point which makes use of family and cargo bikes extremely difficult.

We the undersigned call on Countryside Properties to remove the barriers and consult local residents, CBC users and appropriate expert bodies, such as the County Council cycling team and Camcycle on a better solution to any perceived danger at the junction with Francis Crick Avenue.
