Support Traffic Calming / ActiveTO in Seaton Village

Dear Councillor Layton,

We are writing to express our concern about the state of the streets in Seaton Village, and request that the ActiveTO program, or another form of traffic calming, be introduced.

Like many house neighbourhoods across the city, we have experienced a higher degree of “rat-run” traffic cutting through our streets during rush hour. This has increased significantly in the past two years.

The east-west through routes are Barton Avenue and the combination of Follis and Olive Avenues with Yarmouth Gardens/Yarmouth Road, as well as London Street. North-south, they are Palmerston; Euclid and Clinton, northbound; Manning Avenue southbound; and Markham Street between Follis and Barton.

We would support turn restrictions, similar to those in the Annex, that would stop traffic from passing through the neighbourhood during rush hours. We would also support traffic calming measures at intersections, such as those introduced in Harbord Village.

We thank you for your attention and would invite further discussion with your office.
