SUPPORT the installation of sidewalks on South Kingslea Drive and other side streets

The Issue

The City of Toronto is planning to construct sidewalks on South Kingslea Drive bundled with a road reconstruction and watermain replacement project in 2021. Installing sidewalks in conjunction with road reconstruction projects is part of the City's Vision Zero Plan to reduce the growing number of traffic-related injuries and fatalities in our neighbourhoods.

Continuous and connected sidewalks provide a safer and more accessible walking environment in all seasons and help protect our most vulnerable neighbours: children, seniors, and individuals with disabilities.

Walkability is fostered when pedestrians no longer have to share the road with cars, which in turn promotes greater physical activity and reduces pollution.

We recognize there is opposition to sidewalks in Sunnylea-Stonegate, however the health and safety of our residents is paramount. While we value the rustic feel of our neigbhourhood, the traffic on Bloor Street and in Humber Bay will only continue to rise, forcing more cars onto our streets.

Show your support for sidewalks to Councillor Mark Grimes and City staff by signing this petition and sharing it with neighbours who want a safe, walkable community.
