Dear Supporters,

The fields are saturated, there is no where else for the water to go and it is running off the fields and flooding the highway. This is China Farm Lane in Newton today. This is not "exceptional" weather, this is the "new normal" now.

Miller Homes want to build 500 homes on these fields. Their submission to the Local Plan dismisses flood risk in the area and states that the development "need not be prevented on flood risk grounds". These fields are now sodden for most of the winter, every year. Where will the water go if these fields are covered in concrete? The runoff from these housing estates will increase flooding in the local area AND downstream.

Get out and take photos of the floods in your area, to ensure you have evidence when developers submit planning applications.

Please write to your MP and ask them if they support the Government's proposals to build 28000 houses on the Wirral, putting our Green Belt at massive risk, at a time of a climate emergency. The rainfall is only going to become more frequent and more intense and we will need our fields to hold the flood water. It is utter madness to build on them.
