Dear Supporters,
The Public Inquiry into the Leverhulme's Planning Appeals will commence on Tuesday 16th May at 10am at Wallasey Town Hall.
WE NEED AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE TO ATTEND TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND A SHOW OF UNITY to stop this unnecessary and harmful assault on our Green Belt.
Wirral Green Space Alliance's preparation for the Inquiry is continuing but resources and odds are stacked against us. Leverhulmes are set to make £millions from these Developments and they are throwing all their immense resources at it.
The Inquiry Inspector has commented that she HAS NOT RECEIVED ONE SINGLE NOTICE FROM THE PUBLIC THAT THEY WISH TO ATTEND THE INQUIRY OR VOICE THEIR OPINION - WE CANNOT LET THE INSPECTOR BELIEVE THAT LOCAL PEOPLE DONT CARE! - PLEASE ATTEND THE INQUIRY AND, IF YOU FEEL ABLE, PLEASE SPEAK ABOUT WHY THE GREEN BELT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU.
The public inquiry will determine if Leverhulmes can proceed with the first phase of their "vision" which involves building houses on the following Green Belt Land:
East Of Glenwood Drive / West of Arrowe Park, Irby - 290 houses
North of Raby Hall Rd - 80 houses
West of Raby Hall - 38 houses
West of Barnston Rd / North of Milner Rd - 120 houses
North of Gills Lane, Pensby - 153 houses
Between Thorncroft Dr and Gills Lane Farm - 15 houses
Between Dale View Close, Gwendoline Dr and Thorncroft Dr - 92 houses
But this is just the first phase of their "vision" if they succeed they plan to build 1000s more houses on our precious Green Belt. They have already submitted another application to build 240 houses on Greenhouse (Applebys eggs!) farm in Greasby.
You dont have to register to attend the Inquiry but it would be really helpful if you could do any of the following:
1. Attend, in person, the Inquiry starting at 10am 16th May Wallasey Town Hall.
2. Email the Inspector/ programme officers on inquiry@programmeofficers.co.uk saying whatever you think is relevant of the following / or in your own wording:
- "I / we are opposed to the Leverhulme Estates Applications to harm Green Belt by building hundreds of unneccessary dwellings on important food producing farmland",
- " We are in a worsening climate and ecological emergency and we need our Green Belt to mitigate against flood risk, drought and food shortages and provide homes for wildlife"
- "I / we responded to Consultations on the Local Plan and we support the plans to regenerate the most deprived areas of Wirral and support a "Brownfield Only" approach",
- "we intend to be present at the Inquiry Opening Day to show support to the Council and Wirral Green Space Alliance",
- "Wirral Green Space Alliance speak on my behalf"
- "We wish to attend an Evening Public Meeting and seek details of the Date / Time / Venue"
- "I would like to make a short statement of my position"
- "Irby, Thingwall, Heswall, Pensby and Barnston are unique settlements and must not be allowed to merge in to each other"
