Dear Supporters
The Wirral Green Space Alliance have launched a campaign to raise funds to fight a legal challenge to Wirral’s Local Plan and to stop development of our precious Green Belt.
The Council are insisting that they are sticking to the "target" of 803 homes per year (or 12000 over 15 years), despite expert opinion and reports commissioned by the Council indicating that the figure should be much lower. This means that, despite recent press reports, our green belt is STILL AT RISK!
The Council have engaged a Barrister (at a reported cost of £135,000) to oversee and advise on the production of the Local Plan and argue their position to the Government's Local Plan Inspector.
In addition, it is highly likely that Housing Developers and Landowners will also employ expensive legal teams to present their own “evidence” to the Local Plan Inspector, stating that Brownfield sites are “undeliverable”. They will be arguing for the release of as much Green Belt Land as possible for development, in order to meet the higher housing "need" figure of 803 homes per year.
Our Legal fees will be very expensive, so please donate anything you can spare if you want to help protect our environment and our beautiful Wirral Peninsula.
If every person who has signed this petition gave just £5 we could raise £50,000. We understand that money is tight for some people but if everyone could donate just a few quid it really would make a massive difference and help to save our Green Spaces for future generations. At a time of Climate Emergency, this is more important than ever.
Please share this campaign to all your friends and family. Every donation, no matter how big or small will help. Thank you for your support.
