Let's Ensure MRSC Gets It Right - Amess Rd Development
The issue
Petition on Amess Rd Development
We the undersigned, residents and ratepayers of Macedon Ranges Shire, formally request Council in all of its considerations surrounding a Precinct Structure Plan (PSP) for residential development of the North Precinct (Amess Rd), Riddells Creek, to....
1. Reject lot sizes below 800 square metres, and set a maximum of no more
than 9 lots per buildable hectare. Ensure building envelopes, setbacks and rooflines fit with the current character of housing around the perimeter of the town.
2. Make it safe and easy for pedestrians, bicycles and emergency vehicles to
move around. Movement around the precinct must be well-provided for, and ease of connection to the rest of Riddell needs attention. More houses means more cars, but the impacts must be reduced.
3. Commit to a plan for services and infrastructure. Road & transport solutions, all community services, schools and recreational areas and facilities must be in place as the town grows. Council must advocate and negotiate for the resources to implement this plan.
4. Listen to what residents say. Residents are not against development, but our town’s rural identity is not for sale. Work with us on the big issues like traffic movement, community services and a new vision for Riddells Creek as more than a dormitory suburb on a train line.
