My partner is currently in prison serving time for minor offences, he is due for parole in 3-4 months, and was hit with a very heavy sentence of 12 months, he is a first time offender and has an appeal date next month, which with any luck will shorten his sentence and get him home sooner, this covid-19 virus is serious and is spreading quickly and jails are one of the worst places for it to spread, I am asking that people post a vote as to if they think it fair for prisoners who committed petty crimes like my partner that can be managed outside in the community, the elderly, and unwell prisoners who have less of a chance to fight off the virus to be released on a house arrest/confinement type of condition for the remainder of their sentence or until such time as the covid-19 virus has settled, please guys let’s not make them suffer in there any more than what they already are this virus is killing people, I am not asking that we release all prisoners but first time offenders, petty criminals, elderly and the unwell should have some way out to protect them from the spread being that it’s so confined in there.
