As we approach 6,000 supporters asking for Cornwall council Chief Planning Officer, Phil Mason (phil.mason@cornwall.gov.uk), to apologise and resign, all of which he has not only ignored and ridiculed, but continued and even accelerated the waste and concrete destruction of the Duchy, we realise that he can only remain because a majority in the council are either giving him enough support to continue, or are hiding away from their obligations and duties to Cornwall’s residents. We are therefore asking all our supporters to sign this petition too: www.change.org/p/cornwall-council-we-the-undersigned-wish-to-express-a-vote-of-no-confidence-in-cornwall-council? And this is another reason why.... Message from Orlando Kimber: Firstly the good news: Cornwall for Change (C4C) is committed to protecting the people heritage and culture and is asking for your thoughts on a vision of Cornwall. The forum on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/172716416777733/ has attracted over 200 members in four days. I look forward to meeting you there. Secondly, there was a public meeting in Bodmin yesterday to discuss one of the green field sites that Cornwall Council want to populate; in this particular case it’s an ancient marshland called Halgavor. This development will breaks the ‘development area’ of the town and therefore set the scene for more building to follow. The town council is against the scheme, but Cornwall Council are pushing it through “because it’s based on our strategy”. No evidence is given in relation to any need for housing, nor reassurance given about jobs, doctors' surgeries, schools, sewage etc. Others present spoke about the idiocy of the scheme, so I offered the alternative of increased housing density within the town. We were told that if we had a neighbourhood plan that was different from “the strategy” the town would be required to come up with even more housing. The proposal for Halgavor has risen from 770 houses to 1050, following seven pages of ‘advice’ from a Government Inspector. The document, which applies to the entirety of Cornwall and ten towns in particular, can be found here: http://www.cornwall.gov.uk/media/32760760/insps14-information-request-note.pdf Best wishes, Orlando P.S.
