MORE LOUSY NEWS FROM A TEAM MEMBER ABOUT FAR REACHING CHANGES TO NHS PROVISION IN CORNWALL. Isn’t that surprising , Cornwall Council forces through a motion that will enable its own company (Cormac Care/ Cor-care to capitalise on the decision. What other reason should there have been for the planned increase in council tax to fund social care other than it to be yet another cash cow for Cormac/ Cor-Care ??? Once again Cornwall councils corruption shines through . But please be mindful when considering the decision made by Cornwall Council to pass a motion that benefits a tax payer owned company. The alleged profits do not go back to Cornwall Council in its entirety, it does not improve the quality of care ( speak to anyone employed by Cormac or any of its off shoots and you will very quickly get a real picture , unless it’s management of course) . The money is squandered covering up mistakes, paying senior managers and directors unwarranted bonuses for managing such a debacle, and funding other ventures outside of the county that most definitely does not benefit the Cornish tax payer. This is the face of a lib-dem council , the same face that has been screwing the people of Cornwall purely to keep its own company afloat , and if nothing else its to prove a point that the unitary authority imposed by a Lib-dem council was the right move. Well it was for those who benefit from the bonuses and “rewards” that are available from a tax payer funded and tax payer owned company. If only the tax payer had a say in what it’s company gets up too . Come to think of it , a say in what Cornwall Council- does , how it spends and most importantly what it decides to foist on us whilst circumnavigating a democratic process. I have just sent the following email to my councillor (Cornwall Council) about the crazy decision of Cornwall Council to begin imposing so called Accountable Care Organisations (ACO) onto the NHS in Cornwall on Feb 7th, which will effectively privatise it and remove it from the NATIONAL NHS network. I urge everyone to do the same, I am very happy for you to share, copy and use my email: Dear Councillor…………., I am writing to you to protest in the strongest possible terms about the recent decision of Cornwall Council to allow just five councillors to decide something that could potentially see the end of the NHS in Cornwall as we know it. It seems a Cornwall Council committee has been created which aims to begin setting up so called Accountable Care Systems (ACOs) on 7th February 2018! I would draw your attention to the fact that ACS are facing a judicial review being brought about by a group of professional medical experts and senior NHS staff. This action is being taken because Jeremy Hunt and Simon Stevens the Chief Executive Officer have taken it upon themselves to commence implementation of this massive structural change and NHS reorganisation without any parliamentary scrutiny or oversight. It is therefore outrageous that Cornwall Council intends embarking on this reckless endeavour before proper democratic processes have been completed. ACS also known as Accountable Care Organisations (ACOs) are new commercial, non-NHS bodies which will run health and social services without proper public consultation and without full Parliamentary scrutiny. They will be governed by company and contract law and can be given “full responsibility” for NHS and adult social services. ACOs are an idea imported from the United States, where they were first implemented about 12 years ago. T They are not recognised in any Act of Parliament in the UK. If implemented as planned, they will have the power to make decisions on what care is free and what has to be paid for, yet they can include non-democratically-accountable private companies (eg Virgin in Frimley, Circle in Nottinghamshire) and private insurance and property companies, which will make money from the contracts. GP practices are also likely to be caught up in this structural re-organisation, in which case people on GP lists will automatically transfer to the ACO in order to be entitled to services - new patients will also have to register with these non-NHS ACOs. Furthermore, private contractors will be allowed to further sub-contract all “their” services, making accountability even more opaque. This whole project is a wild gung-ho folly and is against the Public Interest, Cornwall Council should have absolutely nothing to do with it, especially at this stage when the whole ACO project is facing challenges in the courts. I strongly urge you as my local councillor (I live in your ward) to do all you can to oppose these plans which Cornwall Council intend to initiate on the 7th Feb 2018. I look forward to your confirmation that you will take action in this respect. Talking of Cormac and council waste, here's a few recent comments on the subject: "Here in Bodmin we have our very own version. The £7.2million traffic system, including cycle tracks, took a year to build, is still not finished and doesn't work. The system: a clever psychological plan used successfully in the UK and several European countries to control traffic. You don't have to be a conspiracy theorist to see it was designed to fail. The traffic flow is back to how it was but it looks nicer. The pollution level is as deadly as before. There are no cycle tracks. At first some people assumed that Cormac had forgotten to install road signs to warn incoming motorists they were entering a pedestrian environment. The designer says that signs are not needed if it is properly set up. In a pedestrian area there are no curbs, just decorative pavements. It looks like they overspent on kerbs which destroy the object of the exercise and don't have the money to build the cycle tracks. Have they apologised and offered a refund? It's all gone very quiet, apart from the rumble of traffic and the clouds of diesel smoke." "When a planning consultant from Derbyshire tell me that "Cornwall is the easiest County in the UK to get planning permission".... The fruits of Cornwall Councils, past and present, spineless, non existent opposition to planning dictates from Government and weak representation has meant that as the man from Derbyshire said, "We love Cornwall".. One should note that the Directors of Wain Homes, a major despoiler of Cornwall, all live in or near Okehampton." "Not surprised at the above comments, most towns are asking for bypasses, Camborne gets the East-West link road, right through the town and a new housing development with lots of children on it, no 20mph speed restrictions, no traffic calming. This all equals fouler air and even worse traffic problems. Complete shambles" "It is time to call a halt. Just stop. Just think. Cornwall Council needs to stop rushing around like a million headless chickens and start - very possibly with new people who care about Cornwall - to work out what really matters. Thousands of new houses with no infrastructure to support the new residents? Insanity! We cannot sustain what we already have, so STOP and THINK how we can deal with what is already here and struggling without adding more difficulties to the already strong brew of chaos. Stop ticking boxes and think about the people who inhabit the real world. Stop. Think. Please." "I am in absolute despair at reading these emails and replies from CCC, they have no interest whatsoever in creating a green and pleasant land but only their own out-of-touch self-serving needs!!! We keep having these short term overpaid planners with no idea of Cornwall's needs, who then leave with nice golden handshakes, while the council's debt gets ever larger. So it's not rocket science to see that the Cornish taxpayer is being royally shafted and now you want an increase for such incompetence, methinks it's time Cornwalls taxpayers withheld their money until you lot start listening and put ours and Cornwall's needs above yours and the concreting developers needs, first."
