One supporter today asked why our council, using our tax cash, could not fund £350,000 to keep vital CAB services running for our community, but when a deal was struck with prince Charles, Waitrose and the developers to destroy the beautiful Tregurra valley with cheap housing for mostly out-of-Duchy landlords, our council could click its fingers and magically plug Cormac's very sudden overnight £4-6 million overspend!! (The exact figure is not available, but what's a million or two between Cormac managers?!)
Chief Mason is a visionless, clueless, bumbling and serial bungling clown that has caused suffering to us and our children's health, all the while closing wards faster than you can say "nitrogen dioxide poisoning", and to the health of our elderly who have watched in pain their homeland being turned into a noisy grey car park, whilst adult care services have been slashed to the bone.
Yet here he is with his new expensive best friend, John Betty (the turnaround king - didn't know Cornwall needed turning around?!), slapping compulsory purchase orders on farmers and coercing councillors to accept their demands for a £600m borrowing extravaganza, now that the Truro western corridor and Redruth road to nowhere have both completely failed (all to accommodate developers).
And yet, yet, less than 1% of the Cornish population has had the guts, the nous or the intelligence to support this petition.
But you can't blame many who simply live in fear of repercussions from the council bully boys. I hope this changes soon, before Mason has had a chance to turn Cornwall into a cross between the M25, Heathrow airport and southeast London, aka Plymouth West.
In an email received today:
"A&Es are closing down and maternity units are turning away expectant mothers because of lack of funding. Staff are at breaking point. 2017 has been an impossible year for the NHS."
But Phil Mason must feel it's ok to allow government inspectors and civil servants to keep propping up developers' bank balances at the expense of our green belts, our communities and our children's future.
From one supporter:
"You only have to get on the A30 between 7am and 9am to see why CCC has lost the plot, and they are still inviting more people into the county by allowing building everywhere. Completely barking mad, the lot of them."
Whilst another adds:
"We all know these large tacky housing estates are nothing to do with what Cornwall needs and everything to do with a few very greedy, money grabbing, out of county men who see us as an easy option to make a fast buck!!!
Our completely ineffectual, spineless council goes along with the loss of our green belt, to be replaced by increased air pollution, flooding and sewage problems and a total loss of our living conditions, because it is in debt up to his eyeballs due to its past inadequacies. As a taxpayer I am seriously thinking of withholding my tax as it's the only thing the council understands. After all, what am I paying them for, the total destruction of my way of life?"
