UPDATE:
We did it! Our petition to bring a dog park to our community has officially passed 1,000 signatures – and it’s all thanks to you.
Your support, your voice, and your willingness to spread the word helped us hit this amazing milestone. Every single signature brings us closer to creating a safe, joyful space for our dogs—and a more vibrant, connected neighborhood for all of us.
Here’s where things stand:
To be approved, a new dog run in NYC must meet several key requirements. Here’s how we’re progressing:
1. A committed and organized dog-run group
✅ We’ve founded the McCoy's Dog Run Alliance, a dedicated team ready to take on cleaning and maintenance responsibilities for the proposed site.
2. A suitable location approved by NYC Parks
⚠️ Our proposed site is currently under the jurisdiction of the Department of Transportation (DOT). It must be transferred to NYC Parks to qualify. We are actively in discussions with both agencies to explore this possibility.
3. Strong community and board support
✅ Several members of our Community Board have already voiced support—and your signatures continue to show overwhelming backing from local residents.
4. Secured funding for construction and upkeep
🛠️ Once we have an approved location, we plan to pursue funding through community fundraisers and private partnerships.
What’s next?
Join us next Tuesday, April 22nd from 12-3PM for our Community In Action: Earth Day Clean-Up! We will be cleaning up the proposed lot and its surroundings! It will be a day of action and fun with music by DJ Eric Da Selecta, food by Rosa's at Park, followed by a Celebratory Happy Hour at Bar47.

We’ll be reaching out with more ways you can stay involved and help us keep this momentum going.
In the meantime, give yourself (and your pup!) a celebratory treat—you’ve earned it!
With heartfelt thanks,
