Convert Additional Tennis Court to Pickleball in Garvey Park, Rosemead

The Issue

Our thriving Rosemead pickleball community has been enjoying the facilities at Garvey Park since its opening in October 2023. We have been efficiently utilizing one of the converted tennis courts, while we've noticed that the remaining tennis courts see minimal use. This petition is a request to the City of Rosemead Department of Recreation & Parks to consider converting an adjacent tennis court into four additional Pickleball courts or a shared tennis/pickleball court with permanent lines for both sports.

This transformation would result in three dedicated tennis courts and two hybrid courts, creating a more inclusive and diverse recreational space for all players to enjoy. According to USA Pickleball Association, pickleball has seen an explosive growth over recent years with over 3 million players across United States (source: USA Pickleball Association). This shows that there is significant demand for more pickleball facilities.

By making this change, we can ensure that our park continues to serve as a vibrant hub for physical activity and social interaction within our community. We believe this proposal will not only benefit current users but also attract new participants who may be interested in trying out this fast-growing sport.

Please sign this petition if you support our cause and want to see more inclusive recreational spaces in Garvey Park!
