Continue Johnny Cash Official Bootleg Series
The Issue
To John Carter Cash, Josh Matas, Steve Berkowitz, Song/Columbia/Legacy, and any others this may concern:
Please continue the Johnny Cash "Bootleg" series with additional volumes. The first four volumes contained great material, meticulously remastered, and sincerely appreciated; but the series ended just before reaching most of the unreleased studio material Johnny Cash recorded in the 1970s and 1980s at Columbia.
Totally unreleased songs from the 1970s alone include "Watermelon Song", "Nobody Wins" "Sunday Morning Go-to-meeting Suit", "Little Green Men", "When Uncle Bill Quit Dope", "Careless Love in A-Minor", "No One's Going to Miss Me", "On the Way Home", "Sing Me an Old Fashioned Song", "Able Bodied Man", "Teeth, Hair and Eyeballs", "You're a Part of Me", "Good Old Girl", "Billy Brown", "People as Crazy as Me", "The Last Supper" B-side and more.
A remaster of the Destination Victoria Station album and The Rambler promotional album would also be welcome on a 1970s collection, as would a complete concert of the London Palladium shows in 1975 used for the live album Strawberry Cake.
Unreleased 1980s songs include “Bottom of a Mountain”, “Paradise”, and “Sweet Kentucky” from The Pride of Jesse Hallam soundtrack, “Wizard on the Hill”, “Blue Texas Waltz”, “St. Louis Blues”, “A Fast Song”, “I Tremble For You”, “Blessing in Disguise”, “Why Am I Thinking of You”, “Man Gave Names to All the Animals” from the Christmas in Scotland TV special, “Turn You Radio On”, “Shout Against the Wind”, “Sing, Sing, Sing”, “Volkswagen in Disguise”, “Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Drinking”, “Maybe You Should Have Been Listening”, “Old Lonesome” and more.
Continuing this series of outtakes and rare material for Johnny Cash's many generations of fans to enjoy is an ideal way to honor his legacy.
I hope this petition is a sign of the enduring love audiences have for Johnny Cash and a signal that the desire for new music has not diminished.
