We were told before the last full council meeting that the objection to the Heritage Greenway was being withdrawn. We were told at the meeting that they were hoping to move to a confirmation order in May subject to the withdrawal being confirmed. We are in June now. No sign yet of a confirmation order or works to begin.
I used to work in property and was well aware of how sometimes things would be sat on. But this is concerning. We know the st Helier registered landowner has gone back on their word before. And we know that they have put forward the disputed land for development in CBCs next plan. We therefore know that concerns about ‘nuisance motorcyclists’ and more recently ‘a dealers path’ are not the real concern of the obstructionist. They have radical ambitions for this land. And I have made the point that: what is the point of a heritage greenway if the way does not end up being green? And if the heritage of our rural surrounding is target for radical redevelopment? It should concern everybody who lives here.
And so we continue to wait for this thing to actually happen as it was promised. Residents will be questioning this over the next few months if progress does not appear.
