Here is the latest update from Central Beds Council:
‘Unfortunately, due to an objection received only last week, the (path) orders have not been confirmed. We now have to send this case off to the Planning Inspectorate for a decision to be made. This is a lengthy process, and any works on the bridleway upgrade and subsequent improvements cannot start until the order is confirmed’.
This is why it’s so important we have YOU the supporters of this petition on board.
As a community it is hard to fathom how somebody in the local vicinity could have such a disregard for so many of their neighbours. The path was proposed 9 years ago. 325 households and the community within are here and want answers. Why the delay? Why hasn’t a way forward been found that balances the interests of this individual with an entire community?
What is certain is that the authorities have not done enough and do not have our backs. The power to issue compulsory purchase notices exist. The ability to deliver this project exists and has always existed. Promises were made to people coming to live here. The rights of way remain impassible to all but the most confident. And only for short periods of time. The extreme dangers of Chaul End Road remain with a fatality or terrible injury to an innocent non-motorist almost a certainty.
Keep signing, keep supporting and let’s make sure this issue is raised to the top of the local agenda. Let’s get some intervention from Defra! Give us our path!
