The Issue

To
The Hon’ble Minister of Railways,
Government of India
& Concerned Railway Authorities

We, the residents of Karimpur, Nadia, Murshidabad, and surrounding areas of West Bengal, earnestly appeal to the Government of India and Indian Railways for the urgent construction of a railway line connecting Karimpur to Berhampur (Murshidabad) via Krishnanagar.

For decades, the people of this region have been suffering due to the absence of direct railway connectivity. Thousands of students, office-goers, patients, farmers, traders, and daily passengers are completely dependent on road transportation, especially on the heavily congested and accident-prone state highways.

Unfortunately, several tragic road accidents have taken place over the years on the Karimpur–Krishnanagar and surrounding routes due to overloaded buses, unsafe road conditions, reckless driving, and increasing traffic pressure. Many innocent lives have been lost, while numerous families continue to suffer from permanent injuries and financial hardship caused by these accidents.

Some major concerns include:

Frequent fatal bus and vehicle collisions on the Krishnanagar–Karimpur route.
Delayed emergency medical transportation for critically ill patients.
Unsafe travel conditions for students and women during late hours.
Heavy monsoon-related road damage leading to accidents and transport disruption.
Increasing traffic congestion due to lack of alternative public transport infrastructure.
A direct railway line would significantly reduce road pressure, improve passenger safety, and provide a reliable, affordable, and environmentally sustainable mode of transportation for lakhs of people.

Our Key Demands:

Immediate survey and approval of the Karimpur–Krishnanagar–Berhampur railway project.
Inclusion of this railway corridor in upcoming Railway Budget and development plans.
Conducting a feasibility study and land assessment at the earliest.
Development of railway stations and modern transport infrastructure in underserved rural and border areas.
Expected Benefits of the Railway Line:

Reduction in fatal road accidents and safer public transportation.
Faster medical access for emergency patients.
Economic growth, employment, and business development.
Better connectivity for students and working professionals.
Boost to agriculture, tourism, and local industries.
Improved regional integration between Nadia and Murshidabad districts.
This railway project is not merely a transport demand — it is a matter of public safety, regional equality, and socio-economic progress.

We sincerely request the Government and Indian Railways to take immediate and positive action toward implementing this long-awaited railway connectivity project.

“A railway line can save lives, connect communities, and transform the future of rural Bengal.”

Thanking You,
Citizens of Karimpur, Nadia & Murshidabad Districts
West Bengal, India
