As a resident of Oyster Bay, New York, I recognize a wonderful opportunity to enhance our community. While our beautiful beach provides endless enjoyment, there is a need for a safe, cool, and controlled environment for our children to play during the hot summers. This would complement our beach and offer additional options for family fun.

We propose the construction of a splash pad in Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park. Splash pads are fantastic for children, offering a safe and enjoyable way to stay cool. Unlike the beach, splash pads provide a controlled environment with shallow, interactive water features that are perfect for younger children.

Studies by the National Recreation and Park Association highlight the many benefits of waterscapes like splash pads, including improved physical health, stronger community bonds, and greater inclusiveness. This addition to our park would ensure that our children have a fun and safe place to play, promoting their well-being and fostering a sense of community.

We kindly ask our community leaders to consider this initiative. By building a splash pad, we can safeguard the health and happiness of our young ones during the summer months.
