I am just one of many locals who spend 15+ frustrating minutes lining up to turn left at the intersection of Plaza Parkway, HWY 8 and Fairview, in Lexington NC. The congestion is increasing rapidly. We have only a one lane road leading into the Plaza and one lane coming out. This does not only cause inconvenience but could potentially hinder emergency services at essential times. There currently exist no alternative routes for EMS or police in the event of an emergency. The state of affairs is untenable and unsafe.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Lexington's population increased by nearly 5% from 2010 to 2019 ("U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts: Lexington city, North Carolina"). Our city's infrastructure needs to keep pace with this growth. Constructing a second entrance and exit to the Plaza Parkway off HWY 8 and Fairview would alleviate the congestion drastically, improve local commuting, and more importantly, reinforce swift accessibility to the Plaza in emergencies.
