Every day, students of Waubonsie Valley High School risk their lives crossing the intersection at Eola Rd and Ogden Ave to get to and from school. Without adequate pedestrian infrastructure in place, they are put at unnecessary risk. The solution we propose is simple yet effective -construction of a bridge across Eola and Ogden Avenue would provide students with a safe route that is separated from vehicular traffic.This measure would not only ensure our students safety but also ease traffic congestion during peak school hours.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there were 7,388 pedestrian fatalities in traffic crashes in 2021 alone - that's one every 71 minutes. These statistics underscore the importance of implementing effective safety measures such as pedestrian bridges.

We urge local authorities in Aurora, IL to prioritize this issue and take immediate action towards constructing this bridge. By doing so, we can prevent further tragedies.
