Construct a New State-of-the-Art Secondary School on the Isle of Mull

The Issue

Our children, the next generation, are growing up in an era marked by rapid advancements and opportunities. However, they lack access to state-of-the-art educational facilities that can prepare them for this fast-paced world.

The current secondary school infrastructure is outdated and does not meet modern standards for education or accessibility. Its terrible condition has been described as “beyond renovating” and is the only category C school building in the Argyll & Bute district. Research proves that schools built after 2000 have shown a significant improvement in student performance compared to those operating in older buildings. The lack of adequate space and facilities also has a detrimental effect on the morale of staff and the school's ability to attract and retain teaching talent.

This is about more than just bricks and mortar; it's about securing a promising future for our island over the next 50 years. It's about providing our young people with equal opportunities and helping them reach their full potential.

We urge local authorities and stakeholders involved in education planning on Mull to consider this plea seriously. Let us invest in a new campus on the Isle of Mull, rather than waste public funds renovating a school that is not fit for purpose. Please sign this petition if you support this cause.
