Construct a zebra crossing between T-Mall and Strathmore Gate E before its too late.

The Issue

We, the undersigned;

ACKNOWLEDGING the efforts of the National Assembly of the Government of Kenya, the County Assembly of Nairobi City County, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), and transnational and intergovernmental organizations, including the East African Community (EAC), and Kenya's development partners in creating road infrastructure for national development,

TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION the responsibility of the government in promoting and upholding road safety,

NOTING WITH CONCERN the insecurity and remoteness of the footbridges on located near the Madaraka Estate Roundabout and along the Raila Odinga Highway,

ALARMED BY the safety hazards Strathmore University students and other members of the public place are exposed to while crossing the often busy Langata Road,

KEEPING IN MIND the counterproductiveness of road bumps in slowing down the speed of traffic along the Langata Road,

STRONGLY ADVICE the national and devolved governments of the Republic of Kenya, and development partners who have an interest in the safety of our roads, to place a zebra crossing between T-Mall and Strathmore University Gate E,

WELCOMING ALSO, the prospects and opportunities of collaboration between Strathmore University and the aforementioned agencies and institutions in urban mobility research and development, and road safety awareness,

URGES national and county governments, civil society groups, development partners, the private sector, and individuals of good will, to create and implement road safety policies for public interest,

CALLING UPON THEM to tailor these policies to address the problem of road safety faced by Strathmore University students, for example, by delineating a crosswalk between T-Mall and Strathmore University Gate E.
