My name is Kodiak O’Neill, a resident near Floral Park and I have always enjoyed playing basketball with friends. Our local park lacks a dedicated space for kids my age and community members to engage in this fantastic sport. Basketball is not only a great physical activity that keeps us healthy, but it is also a joyful pastime that fosters inclusion and teamwork.

Basketball is one of the most accessible and inclusive sports, requiring minimal equipment and offering tremendous physical, mental, and social benefits. It provides a welcoming environment where everyone can participate, make friends, and build communication skills.

Floral Park already serves as a communal gathering spot. Transforming part of it into a basketball court would be an investment in the community's future. It would become a popular spot for families, promote physical health, and cultivate a sense of community among residents. Additionally, it would provide a positive environment for young people to channel their energy and foster a healthy lifestyle.
