Das Problem

For all of us Danya's death was unexpected and it will be hard without him.

But now as a community we have to act.

First of all, let me start by stating, that I don't think, that Kramnik is without a doubt atfault for Danya's death. However, his death is something that made me realize, what these accusations can do to someone. Danya was not the only person hurt by Kramnik. GM Navara has sued Kramnik over accusations made against him. (Source) In this statement FIDE also acknowledges, that Kramnik harms the chess community.

The situation was tragic, Kramnik was refusing to accept facts and statistics from experts. With Danya in particular he was brutal. Everybody saw how down he was. He was basically beating up someone who was already on the ground. In his Tweet after Danyas death he showed no remorse. In fact he seems to think, that he caused his death. "Too high price paid" sounds to me as if saying I got a what I wanted with an unwanted sideeffect.

Just because he never officially complaint to FIDE, which he probably couldn't because it was all online, doesn't mean he shouldn't be held accuntable.

What the petition (and Community) wants (and who has to act) (Tweet by Nemo)

  • removal of all of Kramniks FIDE Titels (FIDE)
  • removal of all positions within FIDE he may have within FIDE (FIDE)
  • a ban from all competitive play (FIDE)
  • a ban from major Online chess platforms (FOA, chess.com, liches, etc.)
