Dear friends, this is what "justice" and the "educational system" looks like in Greece. I had consciously refused to let my child be educated in the grossly deficient Greek public school system, exercising my civil disobedience right and responsibility as a conscious human being. The growing movement of (secret) homescholers/unschoolers had been previously met with (off the record) threats, by the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs (!) preventing any opportunity of dialogue concerning the limiting law of compulsory education. I had fully documented my decision to not school my child, in writing, when called by the Minor's Prosecutor back in 2015. I am still waiting for a formal reply. The State answered instead, with a set-up abduction of my daughter on the street, on 28 May 2017.It had already removed custody IN ABSENTIA of both me and my child, in a quick mid-summer "case" held in 2016. Neither of us were present or knew about the trial being planned and conducted behind our backs. Since 28 May 2017 when I was handcuffed, arrested, jailed and convicted for “abducting my child”, my daughter has been forbidden to return or even visit her home. All communication with her has been either restricted or (for the last months) totally obstructed. No one has ever assessed, spoken to or even asked my daughter anything in any of these proceedings. She has been totally abandoned, isolated and violated, bullied on every level, till today. The issue is deeply rights-oriented - rights that should be recognized, whether we choose to homeschool/unschool our children or not. According to supra-national legislation that Greece has ratified, the parents can choose their child's education according to their beliefs and value system. The petition is in support of our Human Rights, in protest of the State's harassment and violent reaction towards a mother and child.
