As we have seen multiple times in elections, a few high population areas try to control much larger geographic areas and dismiss them and their wishes. These few areas are typically larger urban areas (aka major cities) and are are usually percentage wise tied to one political party. Due to this fact they also tend to control the political environment to their favor.

This is not how the founding fathers wanted governing to happen. They smartly foresaw the likelihood of large urban areas that could and would be governed by a single party to the detriment of the rights of the rest of the population. That is why they smartly and justifiably put in place the Electoral College. The founding fathers wanted minority representation in governmental policy making. By definition this is what the Electoral College accomplishes. This prevent the rule of the many by the few.

Those against the Electoral College state the only fair way to elect is 1 person = 1 vote. By definition of their argument is vailed but they don't tell you that at the same time the 1 person/1 vote is inherently discriminatory against the rest of the population being counted. They know that major urban areas attract likeminded people and thus likeminded voters. They know this and exploit this very same fact to their benefit and the detriment of the rest of the population.

Is this fair? Those controlling those urban areas would say yes citing 1 person/1 vote. But  honestly do they fairly represent the rest of the population? They complain when they lose presidental elections because of the electorial college, but when look at the maps it is clear why the electoral college was enacted in the first place - the geographical area that represents the others in most instances is much larger percentages geographically than those who end up in control. This is what happened in Connecticut. Just look at the map. And now they want to exploit that very fact.
 
To only way to prevent this and follow what the founding fathers fought for and wanted for their people is to make government fair to all they serve by changing the current method of voting and enact the Electoral College method of electing their policy makers.

This petition is to accomplish just that. To change Virginia's method of voting to make fair for ALL CONNECTICUT.
